Overview
Founded in 2005 as the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League (renamed in 2008), the West Coast League (WCL) is North America's premier summer collegiate wood-bat league, sanctioned by MLB since 2022. It features 17 teams across Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, and Alberta, drawing elite NCAA-eligible players from top conferences like the Pac-12 and Big West. The season runs from late May to mid-August with 54 regular-season games per team, divided into North and South divisions, followed by best-of-three divisional playoffs and a one-game championship. Known as the "Diamond Standard" for its professional-style operations, scenic ballparks, and player development focus, the WCL has produced over 300 MLB alumni (e.g., Adley Rutschman, Tarik Skubal, Jacoby Ellsbury) and drew a record 794,213 fans in 2025. It emphasizes community engagement, innovation, and affordable family entertainment in the Pacific Northwest.
