Wood Bat
Overview
Rebranded in 2009 from the Central Illinois Collegiate League (founded 1963), the Prospect League is a premier Midwestern wood-bat collegiate summer baseball league with 18 teams across Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee, split into Eastern and Western Conferences (each with Northeast/Central and Northwest/South divisions). It provides NCAA-eligible college players with a professional-like experience, including 60-game seasons (30 home/30 away) from late May to early August, followed by playoffs. The league emphasizes player development, MLB scouting (21 players drafted in 2025), and affordable family entertainment, operating as a non-profit with a focus on community involvement. Notable alumni include over 300 pros, and the Cape Catfish won the 2025 championship.
