Overview

Founded in 1993 with play starting in 1994, the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) is a premier NCAA-sanctioned wood-bat summer collegiate league, ranked among the top in the nation (2nd by Collegiate Summer Baseball Register in 2019). It features 13 teams across all six New England states, divided into North (6 teams) and South (7 teams) divisions since 2025 (after a three-division format from 2022-2024). The season includes a 44-game schedule from early June to late July, followed by best-of-three playoff series in early August for the Fay Vincent Sr. Cup. The league emphasizes player development for NCAA-eligible athletes, community involvement via host families and volunteers, and MLB scouting, with over 150 alumni reaching the majors (e.g., Joe Nathan, Stephen Strasburg, A.J. Pollock) and alumni on every MLB team. It operates as a non-profit, drawing top talent from across the U.S. and abroad, and is part of the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball.
