Overview
Founded in 2005 in honor of Cal Ripken Sr., the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League (CRSCBL) is a premier NCAA-sanctioned wood-bat collegiate summer league in the Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Northern Virginia area. It features 8 teams divided into North (5 teams) and South (3 teams) divisions, drawing top NCAA-eligible players from across the U.S. The regular season typically spans 40 games from early June to late July, followed by playoffs (division semifinals, finals, and a best-of-three championship), though 2025 was weather-shortened with all teams qualifying. The league emphasizes player development, MLB scouting, and community involvement through host families and volunteers, with over 300 alumni drafted (24 in 2025 alone) and notable MLB players like Hunter Brown, Brandon Lowe, Jordan Westburg, and Tim Anderson. It operates as a non-profit, hosting events like the All-Star Game (canceled in 2025 due to weather) and a Hall of Fame, and is part of the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball.
